Fairway Mat Policy in Operation on all Closely Mown Areas.

Fairway mats are to be used on the Course from 1st November 2024 to approximately 31st March 2025.

Mats are available to purchase in the pro shop should you need to purchase one.

Why we use fairway mats?

Temperatures providing little growth during the winter months and divots are taken much easier from the softer ground conditions often experienced st this time. The use of mats help protect the turf from divot damage which would otherwise take until the summer to repair.

How to use Each golfer has their own personal mat. If the ball lies on the fairway (or closely mown area), the mat is positioned as near as possible to where it lies. The ball is then placed on to and played from the mat. THIS IS MANDATORY.

“On behalf of all the members of our society, I would like to thank Mersey Valley for a great day! We really couldn’t fault any of the day. 18 holes, food and buggies. The staff on and off the course were polite and extremely helpful. Greens were in great condition. We will no doubt be back again.”
Gary Gardner
“Lovely track, nice wide fairways, not loads of bunkers in the fairway but a lot of little ponds making it tricky. Bunkers infront of the greens are very well positioned. Greens were brilliant and overall the course and club was great. Big putting green and a practice ground that is well looked after. nice and friendly place, a nice patio area to have a drink and bite to eat afterwards.”
David Baker
“The course and facilities are impressive and there is a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable and everywhere is well maintained.”
John Shringley
“Booked captains day for 14 of us. Really enjoyed the course with some great holes. We had a bacon barm, tea / coffee and a hot meal afterwards for a great price. Food was excellent and the staff too. Look forward to playing here again. Would highly recommend.”
